Abstract

The increase in the number of elderly people in Indonesia requires a community-based service model that is capable of maintaining the productivity, welfare, and health of the elderly. The Aisyiyah Senior School (SSA) Boyolali is an innovation in empowerment programs for the elderly. SSA Boyolali integrates spiritual activities, health education, physical activities, psychosocial activities, and skills training. This study aims to examine the availability and readiness of health resources to support the implementation of SSA. This study uses a descriptive design with a case study approach through four key informants who understand the operation of SSA in Boyolali. The research findings indicate that the implementation of SSA is supported by trained health resources, namely GESIT health cadres. These cadres are stationed in each sub-district, with two GESIT cadres per sub-district. This number is insufficient considering the future development of SSA. This situation is exacerbated by disparities arising from inadequate and unevenly distributed health infrastructure across all groups. This inequality has the potential to reduce the quality of services, the quality of cadres, and the consistency of services for the elderly. These findings indicate that the availability of equitable and adequate health resources in all SSA groups is a key prerequisite for the success of community-based elderly empowerment programs.
